Plane Carrying 20 Crashes in Tennessee, Several Injured

A Twin Otter aircraft carrying 20 people crashed shortly after takeoff in Tennessee on June 8, injuring at least six passengers.

The DHC-6 Twin Otter went down near Tullahoma Regional Airport just after noon, according to local officials. Photos from the scene show the aircraft nose-down in a grassy field, with its tail section and one wing visibly broken.

The plane was being used for a skydiving operation and was carrying both jumpers and crew members at the time of the crash.

“There were no fatalities,” said Lyle Russell, spokesperson for the City of Tullahoma. “Six individuals were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Several others were treated at the scene for minor injuries.”

Authorities confirmed there was no damage or injury reported on the ground.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation but has not released a preliminary cause for the crash.

The DHC-6 Twin Otter is a rugged, short takeoff and landing (STOL) aircraft originally built by de Havilland Canada between 1965 and 1988. It's widely used in remote areas and for operations like skydiving due to its reliability and versatility.
