Viral Farewell Moment Between Trump and Saudi Crown Prince Captivates Social Media

A simple yet powerful farewell gesture between U.S. President Donald Trump and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at Riyadh airport has gone viral, drawing widespread attention online.

As Trump boarded Air Force One en route to Qatar—the next stop on his Gulf tour—Crown Prince Mohammed and senior Saudi royals gathered at the airport to see him off. After exchanging handshakes and goodbyes, Trump climbed the aircraft stairs and turned at the top to look back.

Spotting the Crown Prince below, Trump raised his fist and pointed toward him in his signature style. In response, Mohammed bin Salman smiled, placed his right hand over his heart—a traditional Arab gesture of warmth and deep respect—and waved goodbye. Trump mirrored the gesture, placing his hand over his chest before waving and entering the plane.

In Arab culture, the act of smiling and placing a hand on the heart is one of the most sincere expressions of friendship and honor.

The brief exchange quickly spread across social media platforms, racking up hundreds of thousands of views and tens of thousands of comments. Many praised the mutual show of respect and the ceremonial grandeur of Trump’s reception in Saudi Arabia.

“This is genuine mutual respect. Absolutely beautiful,” one user named Andy commented.

“Whether you love or hate Trump, you have to admire his commitment to making America strong in its global partnerships,” another user, Bodette, added.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, 39, is Saudi Arabia’s de facto leader and has served as Prime Minister since 2022. His father, King Salman, born in 1935, has largely stepped back from public duties in recent years due to age and health.

During the visit, Trump announced that Saudi Arabia had committed to investing $600 billion in the United States, including a $142 billion arms deal and additional agreements spanning technology, energy, mining, and space exploration.
